9Apple has taken the wraps off the new iPad and it has a lot of design changes. The device has a larger 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, which gives it a brighter look. For the first time on iPad, the webcam has been moved to the longer side of the display.
The new model now uses a USB-C connection instead of the Lightning port, becoming the last modern iPad model to make the switch. The company has removed the headphone jack (which is pretty cool) as well as the home button on this device.
Apple chose to put Touch ID in the power button, instead choosing to put the device in the power button on the new iPad Air and iPad Mini models ( while the iPad Pro uses Face ID ).The device has support for Wi-Fi 6, and the cellular version now supports 5G.
The new iPad does not have the M2 chip, but uses the A14 Bionic chip instead. It’s the same chip used in the iPhone 12 and an upgrade from the A13 Bionic that came with last year’s ninth-generation iPad. Apple says the new iPad is three times better than the seventh-generation iPad released in 2019 and has “all-day battery life.”The 10th-gen iPad has a 12MP ultrawide front camera along the iPad’s landscape edge, as well as a 12MP rear camera with 4K video.
The front-facing camera’s horizontal form factor and 122-degree field of view allow it to support Apple’s Center Stage feature, which automatically focuses during video calls.
Apple has also included landscape stereo speakers and dual microphones.
Apple said the device will include the first-gen Apple Pencil and the new Magic Keyboard Folio for $249.
This iPad doesn’t replace the entry-level model with minimal bezels and a home button.
Instead, It comes with a higher price tag and is being sold with it. The redesigned iPad will start at $449 for the 64GB model and $329 for the older version.
