A day after Telegram CEO and creator Pavel Durov claimed in Apple’s app review that the update was two weeks old, Telegram issued the fresh update on Friday. One emoji-related feature is absent from the update because specifically asked for it to be taken out, according to Durov.
“Apple is coming back at us by eliminating high-quality vector-animated versions of Telemoji,” Durov tweeted on his Telegram channel on Friday in response to the post’s widespread media coverage. It’s a difficult move on Apple’s part because Telemoji will considerably expand their environment and add a whole new layer to their inventory of low-resolution emoji.
Durov posted a brief video in his post where you may see a Telemoji (a GIF of the video he shared). Telegram may ask for Telemoji to be deleted from the upgrade since Apple objects to other companies changing their designs in this way. Requests for response from Apple and Telegram were not immediately returned.
Further emoji enhancements are included with the release. Users can upload and utilize unique emojis in chats with friends who subscribe to Telegram’s freshly introduced $4.99 Premium service. Telegram is providing 10 custom packs with more than 500 emojis to get you started.
Emojis that are animated can be seen by free users and used in saved messages.
WhatsApp for Android Stickers from Telegram on the desktop that you might recognize (or web). The iOS sticker panel has been upgraded with new tabs for GIFs and emojis. The whole list of modifications is available in Telegram’s blog entry.
Durov stated that adding custom emoji as message responses will be possible on Telegram “in a few weeks,” but initially it will only be available to premium users.
The emoji reactions, in my opinion, are pretty cool. The more emoji uses there are, the better.
